Only 8 weeks knocking and a 127K summer? Yeah, that’s Jake Slezak. Learn more about the strategies that took him from rookie to Golden Door winner in two summers.
Set Ambitious Goals, Take Initiative
From starting with a goal of selling $250K in two months to eventually setting his sights on a Golden Door, Jake sets goals and makes them happen. He even used major setbacks as opportunities.
Case in point, he got bit by a brown recluse spider, got multiple mosquito bites on that infection, and used it to show the people he was selling to that they needed pest control in their neighborhood. If that’s not good marketing, we don’t know what is.
Jake set a goal to sell 250k and instead sold 127k. The 250k goal in 8 weeks is crazy ambitious and although he didn’t reach that number, he still had an insane rookie summer. Shoot for the moon and you’ll land among the stars is still solid advice.
Persistence and Hard Work Pays Off
From the very beginning, Jake set his sights on achieving the Golden Door award in his second year in the industry. He made the bold decision to move to Utah to fully immerse himself in his work and put all his efforts into achieving his goal. This commitment to his craft set the foundation for his success.
One of the key differences between Jake’s first year and his second year was his mindset. He was determined to succeed, no matter the obstacles that came his way. He actively trained, recruited new team members, and constantly reflected on his pitch to improve his sales techniques. By understanding the “why” behind his sales strategies, Jake was able to connect with customers on a deeper level and increase his sales numbers.
Believe in Yourself, Trust Others
From 127k his first summer to over 650k his next, Jake made monumental growth. While some of this can be attributed to his own hard work and determination, he also credits the support and guidance from his teammates and mentors. You have to have people who believe in you and can push you to be better.
Build a Brotherhood
It’s easy to let yourself down, we do it all the time. But it’s much harder to let your team down. The Rumble is a perfect example—it’s team versus team and production always spikes up. People want to be the ones that others can count on to show up and work hard.
Jake says that if you want to reach ambitious goals, surround yourself with people who will mentor you and hold you accountable. And while you may be competing with these individuals for sales, at the end of the day, it’s about building a brotherhood and supporting each other toward success.
