Drew Hansen: 5–Time Golden Door Winner and Sales Legend

Grit has amazing reps, like unbeatable reps. The kind that is responsible for 53% of all Golden Doors given to the industry. Drew Hansen has been at Grit for the last 3 years and has seen insane growth. Obviously, he has some wisdom to give us. Here it is:

Winning Doesn’t Owe You Anything

Kobe Bryant wins an NBA championship? He’s back in the gym the next day. Just because you saw success one day doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed the next. Drew gives 3 tips for chasing those wins:

  1. Your environment creates your mindset. Put yourself in places you want to be, with people you want to be. It’s uncomfortable but surround yourself with people that are better than you—you’ll have no choice but to rise up to their level.
  2. Use your resources to get better. You can’t expect to do nothing different and start winning.
  3. Be consistent; winning is an everyday thing.

How Does Drew Balance the “Grind” With Taking Care of Himself?

Drew shared that for 9 months or so, he struggled with intense anxiety and depression. Door–to–door sales isn’t a summer vacation; it’s a grind, and it’s hard. Here are his tips for dealing with burnout:

  1. Self-Awareness: Find out where your negative thoughts are coming from. Get to know yourself, the things you want, and why you feel the way you do. Get help and insights from other people so you can build your self-awareness.
  2. Work-Life Balance: Make sure your life has checks and balances; you have to make sure you’re checking all the boxes outside of sales.
  3. Perspective: Recognize that winning doesn’t care about your feelings so if you’re chasing big goals, you’re going to have to work.

If your goal this summer is to get a Golden Door (just as a reminder, that’s $650k or 1,000 accounts), you’re going to be stretched. That’s not easy and don’t think these guys that are getting it are just floating along.

But the thing is: it’s doable. Surround yourself with people like Drew, know why you want a Golden Door and hit the doors.
